POLITICAL FILM SOCIETY MEMBERS NARROW LIST OF NOMINEES FOR BEST PEACE FILM
Because one of the rules of the Political Film Society is that there can be
only five nominees per category each year, members voted to determine the top
five of the seven films of 1998 pre-nominated for promoting political
consciousness of the desirability of settling conflicts peacefully. Three
otherwise excellent films were dropped from the list—American History X, Men
with Guns, and The Thin Red Line.

POLITICAL FILM SOCIETY BOARD MET ON FEBRUARY 13; TO MEET AGAIN ON MARCH 13
The Board of Directors of the Political Film Society held their first meeting
of 1999 on February 13. The Board counted the ballots for the best five films
in the category of peace and adopted amendments to the By-Laws, as noted on
the website. On March 13, again at 8481 Allenwood Road, Los Angeles, the Board
will reconvene primarily to count ballots for the best political films of
1998, which will be announced by March 15.

7. Results of the balloting and final ballots for all categories will be sent
to members by March 15.
