The example that comes to mind most readily is "Sunset Boulevard," which was turned into a Broadway musical. Incidentally, Swanson was involved in a plan to do "Sunset Blvd" on Broadway as a musical herself, shortly after the movie was released. The script and some of the score were actually written, but Paramount nixed the idea because they believed that the play would detract from interest in the film. Many novels have been adapted for both stage and screen: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Letter (orig. a short story), Washington Square, Kiss of the Spider Woman, etc. But the examples I can think of were generally staged before they were filmed.
