Lang, could it have been Hellmuth Costard, one of whose films is even titled "Der kleine Godard an das Kuratorium junger deutscher Film"? (The Little Godard to the Production Board for Young German Cinema, 1979). I've seen only one film of his, "Echtzeit" (Realtime, 1982) when he was in New York for a conference on German film in 1984 (or thereabouts). Or possibly Alexander Kluge, who has received a lot of critical attention (check out New German Critique). Good luck, Janis Solomon ---- To sign off SCREEN-L, e-mail [log in to unmask] and put SIGNOFF SCREEN-L in the message. Problems? Contact [log in to unmask]
