Deadline : All entries must be received by May 1, 1998 Who may apply IFC20000 is open to students enrolled in a film degree program at an accredited undergraduate or graduate American school. Submissions will be accepted directly from students. Only 16mm and 35mm film. less than 30 minutes, and produced since May 1997 will be accepted. All genres of work by matriculated film students are eligible for considreation, including animation, comedy, docudrama, documentary, drama, and experimental. THe Prize Amounts; A $10,000 grand prize will be awarded to the student filmmaker whose work, in any genre, reveives Best Fim recognition overall. Two additional prizes, of $2500 each, will be awarded in recognition of Outstanding Achievement: Documentary and Outstanding Achievement: Animation. How to apply; Complelet the application form and required attachments and submit it with videotape of the film. A $25 administrative fee must accompany all submissions. Application forms, fees and tapes must be received by May 1, 1998. A competition entry is complete only when application form, fee and tape are all received by the stated deadline. All tape cases and viedeotapes are to be labeled with the film title, applicant's name, return address and the name of school or university. Films are accepted on 1/2" VHS cassette, but must be readily available in the final release form upon request. If selected, filmmaker must provide a BETA Master of the iflm for the IFC broadcast. A $25 entry fee must accompany each submission. Make checks payable to Independent Feature Project (IFP). Credit cards declined or checks returned will disqualify entrant. You may choose to submit a self-addressed, stamped postcard to acknowledge receipt of your application materials. Applications without cards, or cards without postage will not be sent acknowledgement. Entrants who would like to have their tapes returned should also include a self-adderssed label and $3.00 postage for the return mailing. Applicant must pay postage and insurance for the shipment of Films to the competition. We strongly recommend hand-delivery or express overnight delivery of application materials. It is out experience that samples have been lost or delayed in the mail.
