>> I am teaching a course this summer for the first time comparing
>> literature to film for seventh and eighth graders (13-14 year olds). I
>> am looking for films adapted from stories ( preferably short stories)
>> suitable for this age group. with quality adaptions into film. Any
>> suggestions or favorites?

Although I have not seen either of these in several years, they both stand
out as quality book to film adaptations for that age group--

ISLAND OF THE BLUE DOLPHIN is a short novel by Scott O'Dell--made into a
film in the mid-1960s

JOHNNY TREMAIN was adapted by Disney in the late 50s, and I have friends
who use it in American History I

Good Luck,
