I am in the process of persuading my college to allow me to pilot a short
course in Film Theory. my own interests are very firmly in the areas of
silent, early sound and musical films, and i would therefore welcome any
suggestions on material that might work well for groups of students from
other disciplines, who might have a limited background knowledge of this
area.
I think I may push for six or (if I am feeling brave) twelve sessions for
this course, and would like to be as catholic and comprehensive as I can,
engaging interest that might then be developed in further optional study,
rather than swamping the students with too much in-depth material. This
should be a beginers course.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
