On Friends it is Chandler who gives oout the gay vibe but it is Joey that
keeps being put in all sorts of gay situations i.e. one episode Joey
talks about how his tailor always had to feel him up to make sure his
pants fit correctly, another episode the janitor or whoever the grumpy
man in their building who hates them all had to learn to dance to impress
some woman so Joey plays femme for him. That particular episode ends
with Joey and the guy going up onto the roof to dance together after both
of them have learned to dance and there is no reason for them to be
dancing together anymore. It seems to me that there is this constant
assumption that men have to be constantly vigilant to assert their
heteerosexuality or that somehow they'll fall into the homo trap in the
Friends world. It is constantly faced (Joey and Chandler take Ross' baby out
once and lose him on the bus but in between everyone assumes they are a gay
couple) - and Joey seems more prone to it than most arguably either
because of his stupidity-good looks combo or because of his latent
queerness - but never really addressed for the men (check out the
homoerotic subtext of the intro).

Dax on STAR TREK: Deep Space Nine had a lesbian kiss but it got sort of
explained away because of the male symbient that is living in her.

On MASH Hawkeye also pretends to be in love with Frank one episode so
that he can get some rest and relaxation.

I also seem to remember some
sort of lesbian thing on CHINA BEACH maybe with the prostitute (can't
remember her name). Am I just making it up?
