True, but the granddaddy of '70s paranoia can probably be traced to EXECUTIVE ACTION (1973), the JFK-consipiracy film based on a book by assassination guru Mark Lane. It's a pretty bad film but interesting for what it attempts (and to compare with Stone's craftier handling of similar material in JFK, love it or hate it).
