The candidate is responsible for promoting the series generally and individual programs specifically, and for institutional positioning. Applicants should have 5 years experience in press relations, public television and/or independent film. The Director manages a small seasonal staff and reports directly to the executive producer and the executive director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: · establishing and maintaining communication with national and regional press; · creating and supervising production of press and promotional materials; · hiring and supervising publicity staff; · managing communications budget; · working with public television promotions colleagues; · working closely with the executive producer on relevant programming decisions and creative direction; · overseeing corporate identity efforts for American Documentary.
