Somewhere I read that W. H. Auden was originally commissioned to write the
lyrics for the Broadway play (subsequently film) of The Man of La Mancha.  His
lyrics proved to be commercially nonviable, so he was replaced by Joe Darion.
The original lyrics, however, survive in print.  Does anyone have information on
this?
