Film Studies at Carleton University includes faculty with international reputations for work in national cinemas, film history, documentary, animation, video and new media and a variety of other areas of investigation. Located in Ottawa, Canada, Film Studies is supported by significant library holdings, recently added to by the acquisition of research materials from the National Film Board, the Museum of Modern Art and the National Archives of Canada. The Carleton campus is located close to the superb research facilities of the Sound and Visual Archives of the National Archives of Canada. Course offerings in degree programs in Film Studies are augmented by independent studies and practica supervised in cooperation with such institutions as the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Film Institute and the National Archives.
