Besides the two American film version and OSSESSIONE, there was a French version
in 1939 titled LE DERNIER TOURNANT, directed by Pierre Chenal.
 
You mention JU DOU, which does have strong parallels to the story, but so does
Oshima's EMPIRE OF PASSION (aka IN THE REALM OF PASSION).
 
A film that seems to consciously play some twists on the POSTMAN structure is
the recent CAUGHT, directed by Robert Young.
