Preliminary research is being conducted at the University of Colorado-Boulder in conjunction with the University of Salford in the U.K. to assess the current use of technology in the field of journalism to assist in curriculum and course development, research program development, and the identification of training and partnering opportunities/needs. Project Goals: 1) Provide an overview of the current practices, technology, and training provided by media outlets and universities. 2) Assess major industry developments/trends in terms of the technology and the practices that are likely to subsequently evolve. 3) Identify the changing implications for job definitions, skills sets, employment patterns and opportunities. 4) Determine the kind of training and education that the journalist of the future will require.
