It seems to me that the most common "old myth in new films" is that of
Faust. Examples are: Heathers, The Craft,Fatal Attraction, and The Cable
Guy. Closely related are the film noir plots in which "you get what you
shouldn't want". "The Postman Always Rings Twice" is one of many examples.
