We use the Pioneer 8000, because it can treat the long play discs almost like the digital discs, thus enabling at least some manipulation. It's just the disc-flipping that takes time and is disruptive, since I have to do the various steps to make it happen and the 8000 takes almost a full minute to initialize the disc. I use a computer interface that enables me to pre-program my clips and does save me a great deal of time and hassle in lecture. I also have a switch on the cart that enables me to display clips from either the laserdisc or VHS (or even show the computer screen if I wanted to do that.)
