I am very happy that my question has brought out
such a thoughtful range of ideas. What I found most interesting
is how everyone out there assumed that I was accusing Disney
of being racist in The Lion King and then either agreed or
disagreed with me.
Actually, the whole reason for this post was that I
really didn't know what to think about this movie. I noticed
certain elements that made me wonder. Since my 3 year old
and all of his toddler buddies are mesmerized by this film, I
thought it deserved a closer examination.
I would like to reassert something that I said in an
earlier post about the subject of having conversation in the
format of a mailing list. If we only post fact based
questions, or ideas that we have already have formed an
opinion on, then I don't think we will have as good
discussions as when we take chances on subjects that we
aren't sure about, or that are more open-ended.
Best regards to everyone,
Simone Fary
