State University of West Georgia JOB VACANCY NOTICE POSITION: Instructor of Mass Communications/Television DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities of this position include teaching upper and lower division courses in Mass Communication, especially in the area of television production. THE COLLEGE: The State University of West Georgia is a coeducational, residential, liberal arts institution located approximately 45 miles west of Atlanta in Carrollton, GA. From an enrollment of 576 in 1957, the institution's student body doubled every four years and now has an approximate enrollment of 8,500 students. The university offers undergraduate degrees in 50 areas of study and Masters degrees in 33 areas of study. West Georgia is a multi-purpose public institution providing a liberal arts experience for all students. THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Mass Communications and Theatre Arts was established at the State University of West Georgia in 1986. There are nine full-time faculty in the Department of Mass Communications and Theatre Arts. The Department is one of seventeen departments in the School of Arts and Sciences. QUALIFICATIONS: 1) PhD in Mass Communication, Broadcasting or Telecommunication required. 2) Experience in commercial, public or educational television is required.
