I'm just back from seeing "Heavy," which, being about a mostly
inarticulate protagonist, can't rely too much on words to tell its
story.  Shelley Winters plays the protagonist's mother, and given her
history, you can read volumes into the few dribs and drabs of
information you are given.  That's not exactly visuals, but another
property of filmmaking which certainly communicates.
