I picked up a book a few years ago - "John Kobal Presents the Top 100 Movies". It was based on a survey of film critics, film historians and filmmakers from around the world. Though not a very scientific undertaking by any means, it's interesting to see what films are appreciated on a global level. I like it for the mix - everything from Night of the Living Dead to Greed to Some Like it Hot is on this list. Here's the Top 10 - Citizen Kane - Orson Welles Rules of the Game - Jean Renoir Battleship Potemkin - Sergei Eisenstein 8 1/2 - Fellini Singin' in the Rain - Donen/Kelly Modern Times - Charie Chaplin Wild Strawberries - Ingmar Bergman The Gold Rush - Charlie Chaplin Casablanca - Michael Curtiz Rashomon - Akira Kurosawa Maria Ferrara ---- To signoff SCREEN-L, e-mail [log in to unmask] and put SIGNOFF SCREEN-L in the message.
