Because of the intense heat they generate (there's actually a flame/arc between the rods) they are not well suited to projection, although their most common use these days is as high intensity follow spots in theaters/concert halls. You MIGHT be able to find a few arc projectors still in use, but I think you will find most using a quartz/halogen lamp.
