In his autobiography, Frank Capra describes the disastrous opening of Mr. Smith
Goes to Washington.  It was premiered here in Washington DC at Constitution
Hall.  The room  was filled with many Senators, Representatives and other
elected officials who were not impressed with the story.  Many left before it
was over.  I believe Capra was in the projection booth and even from there he
could tell things were not going well.
