Leo Bankerson inquires:
"Lately I had a conversation about films and sports. I struck me
that I could think of quite a few American films with baseball-
heroes, but that a European football(soccer)-equivalent doesn't
seem to exist (no titles known to me).
The idea that a difference in involvment might play a role led to
the quickly improvised hypothesis that in the Latin-American
cinema the 'football-film' might not be uncommon.
Since my own knowledge of Latin-American cinema is too limited, I
call on Screen-L for confirmation of rejection of the hypothesis.
It's not too serious a matter, but I hope someone can shine some
light on it."

I'm afraid I know next to nothing about "soccer" in Latin American films,
though it seems to me that Pele has had a few film roles, but for
European films, I can think of two: THIS SPORTING LIFE and THE GOALIE'S
ANXIETY AT THE PENALTY KICK.
