In an effort to make SCREENsite (the film/TV *studies* Web site) more
accessible to our international friends, we have begun translating our
core material into French, German, Spanish, Swedish, and Portuguese.

And, if we can figure out how to do Chinese and Japanese characters in
HTML, we'll tackle them next. (Can anyone help us out here?)

So far we've about completed the French, German, and Swedish versions
of the initial welcome, the Table of Contents, and the Help section.
Each of these versions is linked to from the English welcome page:

http://www.sa.ua.edu/tcf/welcome.htm

And the English Table of Contents:

http://www.sa.ua.edu/tcf/contents.htm

Of course, you can also go directly to them without first passing
through the English version. The welcome pages are:

French: http://www.sa.ua.edu/tcf/welc-f.htm
German: http://www.sa.ua.edu/tcf/welc-g.htm
Swedish: http://www.sa.ua.edu/tcf/welc-sw.htm

If you speak one of these languages, won't you come on by and do a
little proofreading for us?

For those of you unfamiliar with SCREENsite:

It's a broad collection of materials to aid the study of film and
television. You'll find syllabi for film/TV courses, info on journals
and books, a listing of film/TV college programs, a directory of
film/TV educators' e-mail addresses, links to a variety of film/TV
stuff, and more.

The translations are the result of the good works of Bert Deivert,
Claudia Smith, and Philippe Mather. Thanks, folks!
