VAGABOND by Agnes Varda is a very finely shaded exploration of moral
ambiguity in which a mysterious teenage hitchhiker drifts inexorably
through a series of misadventures, towards final ruin. The ambiguity is
hers, and appears to infect everyone, male or female, of various social
strata, who comes in contact with her.
