Announcing a new mailing list for experimental film. "FrameWorks" -- a forum for the open discussion of film as art, or film as visual poetry, its expressive qualities aside from or in addition to its storytelling capabilities. This can cover any aspect of film taken in this context: unipersonal production, techniques and financing, history and aesthetic of avant-garde film, critical discussions, new directions, courses and teaching, festivals for new work, announcements of world-wide events in film, retrospectives, exchanges of information, ideas and help with projects, selling rights, etc. The list is open to anyone making, teaching, researching, programming and discovering experimental and avant-garde film -- whether film educators, students, professionals, media librarians, or self-schooled fans, whether they have access to films or not. Discussion is invited on any topic mentioned above but also on the current situation of experimental noncommerical film and filmmmakers, the possibilities of seeing new work, of screening spaces and institutions, of obtaining grants and funding for artists, of archiving historic films, restoring early films, etc. To subscribe, send mail to <[log in to unmask]> with "SUBSCRIBE FRAMEWORKS <E-mail_address (real name)>" in the body of the message.
