I just completed three lists for a local newspaper of horror films:
appropriate for family viewing, stuff to scare the shit out of you, and
splatterfest.  Of course I don't have my notes on me at the moment, but
immediately off the top of my head try WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE, the
most original horror film I have seen in years.
