From: Tony Williams English SIUC As we've moved into "death row" scenes why not include the 1933 boxing movie melodrama KING FOR A NIGHT starring Chester Morris? It includes a poignant "last mile" scene with the hero's minister father accompanying him to the chair. However, unlike the post Hays Code ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES, Morris does not "crack" and get religion at the last moment. He goes to his death heroically and realistically, believing in maintaining the courage of his convictions. His father understands this and silently recognizes his son's integrity. A really beautiful scene from a rarely seen movie. Tony Williams ---- To signoff SCREEN-L, e-mail [log in to unmask] and put SIGNOFF SCREEN-L in the message. Problems? Contact [log in to unmask]
