Reply to: Unauthorized duplication ------------------- Jeremy, this doesn't have to hit the list if you can provide me with the goods yourself. ------------------- A local filmmaker has asked me to consult the Screen-L experts for information regarding the use of, and official (if any) authorization, to use the standard FBI unauthorized duplication warning message at the beginning of rented video moves. 1. Is there a place where they issue permission to use the FBI warning? 2. Is there an official "wording" protocol? 3. Is it necessary to contact the FBI's public affairs desk to say you want to use a warning that mentions them? I suggested to my filmmaker friend that this is usually the concern of the distribution people and the video store or chain. He said that he was planning to distribute his own work himself and wanted to know if he could write anything he wants to scare the viewer into compliance or if there was an "official" stamp of approval he needed before copying the wording from an existing tape. He'd also like to use the FBI logo (just like the big chains) so any help someone can be would be greatly appreciated. As he is not a subscriber you can Email my address and not to the list [unless you feel a wider audience would benefit from this information].
