Regarding Mark C. Pizzato's query regarding using all or parts of a film,
it certainly seems to me that the question depends on what you are
attempting to achieve pedagically.  If you want your students to
understand the entire film within some broader argument then holding them
responsible for the entire film seems reasonable.  If you are
illustrating a principle (say a method of editing or blocking), then a
clip is fine.  Can't you petition for "lab" screening time so that the
film screening time isn't part of the lecture portion of the class?  Hope
