An important instance of a previously-recorded message as a plot device occurs
at the end of the Boulting Brothers' adaptation of Grahame Greene's BRIGHTON
ROCK, although the film weasels out on the very tough ending of the book.
(Also notable for a good performance by the young Richard Attenborough before
he metamorphosed into the cherubic elf and bad director of recent years.
