Mathews, Urbana, IL 61801 217/244-2705 I've been reading this discussion for some time now, and political correctness might vindicate me in being anti-American *or* anti-Eurocentric. That aside, I would point out New Zealand film and television has a distinctive sense of self that fits, and opposes, neither polarity. Nor are we part of Asia, nor are we a third world country. New Zealand films include several winners at Cannes, nearly a best film Oscar, and are popular, financially viable and stand up extremely well to academic criticism. A variation on Tarantino's violence might be Peter Jackson's _Braindead_ and _Bad Taste_..., yes, he directed _Heavenly Creatures_, just down the road from here. So let's use the net for global discussion, ok? _Rebecca Robinson, University of Canterbury, nz
