Funded by the Luce Program on Cinema, Literacy and Culture, this one-year postdoctoral fellowship is designed to allow young scholars to advance their research while teaching a reduced load of undergraduate courses in the film program. Duties include introductory courses in film history and theory, upper-level courses depending upon areas of specialization, advising and mentoring of students, organizing a speakers' series. Qualifications: candidates should have a PhD in hand before September 1995; teaching experience; and a commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. In addition to a solid background in narrative film history and theory, strength in one or more of the following areas is desired: television, third world cinema or experimental cinema. The appointment starts 11 August 1995. The department is looking for someone to teach video production in the context of an English department whose well-developed Film Studies Program has particular strength in history and theory. The teaching load is two-two. Teaching experience is required, and publications, including video work, are desired.
