Author: "Mark Kawakami" <[log in to unmask]> at SMTP-LINK Date: 12/9/94 1:30 PM [Editor's note: This message was submitted to SCREEN-L by the "Author" noted above, not by Jeremy Butler.] Films dealing with classicism: Well, it's not recent, but "Seven Samurai" not only deals with class structures, but is a fine work of cinema, which should not be missed, and assuming the students are flexible enough to sit through it (which they should be, but should and is rarely are) they will really enjoy it. As for recent films, the recent Merchant-Ivory canon, such as "The Remains of the Day," and "Howard's End." Much of the recent prep-school genre ("Scent of a Woman""School Ties" neither are exceptional, but deal w/ class). I'd like to offer more, but most of the good ones are already taken.
