Nope, not kidding or lying.  You can find the video in your videostore (The
Beach Boys: An American Band) on either the Vestron or Live Entertainment
label.  The film had a very short run theatrically (in 35mm) in about a dozen
cities to build exposure for the video release.
 
In post-production, we compiled footage from all sources (8mm film, 16mm
film, 35mm film, 1" video, 3/4" video, Pal, Secam and NTSC) onto 1".  Image
Transform in Los Angeles transferred it to 35mm with a Dolby Surround track.
 
It worked fine I believe because the audience accepted the fact that the film
was from mixed sources.  It had a very textured feel to it.  Obviously, I
don't recommend this for all projects.  Your visual texture must
stylistically support your subject matter.
