Krin Gabbard cites GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER, which is obviously an example of an interracial couple, but the whole point of the movie revolved around the race of Poitier and Anne-Margaret and how their engagement challenged the liberal sensibilities of Tracy and Hepburn. It's actually the epitome of the modern liberal interracial romance film, which strives to show enlightenment. An interesting point was made on MIDNIGHT RAMBLE, the American Experience show about "race" films. Often, the plots of these films revolved around what appeared to an interracial romance, until it was shown that one of the characters (usually the woman) had a *drop* of black blood and was QED black. --Don Larsson, Mankato State U., MN
