Contact the Museum of Broadcasting in New York (your local library should
have the address).  There's also a museum in the mid-west devoted to
broadcasting as well.
 
Your friend, if he tracks down the show, should contact a local
history museum or his university archives (if he teaches at a
particular university) to see if they want a copy as well -- they
might want a copy for their own collection if there is a local angle
to the appearance.
