You are certainly right about racial prejudice, but I doubt that it differed to any marked degree in other sections of the U.S. The point that is often lost in these discussions is the pervasive ridicule of any group which fell outside the accepted "movie star" category. Every immigrant group, every minority religion, every unpopular political group, every physical disability was targeted with equal abandon. As another post said, it is as much madness to ignore these facts as it is to judge them by our standards. Both issues must be addressed. We are talking about history here, not an immutable, frozen theorem. Every generation has a right to and does re-examine history. We just have to make sure that the basic information is available, uncensored by some succeeding generations' prejudices or "enlightenments". Gene Stavis - School of Visual Arts, NYC
