Well, actually SCREEN-L has no special Hanukkah/Christmas/New Year's schedule, and will be pumping out messages throughout the holidays. This note is just a warning to those of you who will be unable to check your e-mail for days (or weeks) at a time: you'll prevent serious e-mailbox cram-osity if you turn off SCREEN-L during that time period. Remember, there are two ways to stop messages from SCREEN-L: (1) signing off SCREEN-L entirely (and then resubscribing when you return) or (2) setting your subscription to "nomail" (and then turning it back on again later). These two options are described below. Have a too-cool holiday! Signing off of SCREEN-L: Subscribers may leave SCREEN-L by sending e-mail with the command UNSUBSCRIBE SCREEN-L to [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] Please please please send this command to "listserv" not to "screen-l." Messages sent to "screen-l" will, of course, go out to everyone on SCREEN-L. If you have trouble signing off, notify Jeremy Butler ([log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask]). Setting your subscription to NOMAIL: There are a number of things you can do to control how your subscription to SCREEN-L is handled. In LISTSERV terms, you can "set" several options that will modify how SCREEN-L mail is sent (or not sent) to you. Here's the basic method: send mail to [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] Once again, note that the address is not "screen-l," but rather "listserv." After the header, put in the command: SET SCREEN-L <option> "<option>" is the thing you want to set for your subscription to SCREEN-L. >>>SUSPENDING MAIL TEMPORARILY NOMAIL turns off your mail delivery but keeps your name on SCREEN-L. Thus, to suspend mail delivery: SET SCREEN-L NOMAIL To restart delivery: SET SCREEN-L MAIL ---------- The Dadaist gave the bourgeois a sense of confusion and a distant, yet mighty rumbling, so that this bells began to buzz, his safes frowned, and his honors list broke out in spots. --Hans Arp ---------- | Jeremy G.
