The classical definition of 'magical realism' is to be found in the
preface to Alejo Carpentier's The Kingdom of this World.  Littin's
Alsino and the Condor is explicitly magical realism, and he has an essay
'Lo real maravilloso' in which he explains this method.  There are many
Latin American films that employ 'magical realism,' including Erendira,
