 I am editing an anthology on the "articulation" of race in early United States
 film (1896-1927).  It is to be published by Rutgers University Press in mid-
 1994.  Aimed at a general academic audience, the book is divided into four
 sections:  1) Authors and Studios, 2) Styles and Genres, 3) Stars and 4) "Key"
 Films.  A number of scholars have already agreed to contribute to the book,
 though there are some gaps that I hope to fill.
 
 I am particularly interested in new articles on Oscar Micheaux, Birth of a
 Nation, Sessue Hayakawa and "greaser" films.  Of course, I would be willing to
 discuss and read any material relevant to the subject of "race" in early
 United States film.
