Last night I saw the doc film _Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media _ . I feel that this film is a must for all people interested in the TV and film industries (as well as politics). The film makes a joke about Mr. Chomsky's label as the worlds most important intellectual, but I would seriously contend that he is in fact the most important critical thinker in late capitalism. This is a limited release film, but I have taken the liberty to copy the schedule so no one misses it, wherever you are in the country. >Billy WHOOPER1@ITHACA _Manufacturing Consent_ openings: Ithaca, NY Cornell Cinema April 10 San Francisco Castro Theatre April 9-15 Berkeley UC Berkeley April 16-22 St. Louis, MO Webster Film Series April 23-29 Boston Brattle Theatre April 23-29 Washington, DC Key Theatre April 23-May 7 Los Angeles Nuart April 29-May 5 Columbus Ohio Wexner Center April 30- May 1 Albequeque NM May 5-8 Cleveland Cleveland Cinematheque May 7-8 Santa Cruz CA May 13-19 (correction--->Santa Cruz Sash Mill Cinema May 13-19) San Jose CA Towne 3 May 14-20 Rhinebeck NY Upstate Films May 18-20 Rochester NY Little Theatre May 15 & 16 San Diego Ken theatre May 20-24 Those are all of the listings that I have, but the ad says "Other locations to be announced" so keep a look out. Let me say again how important I feel this film is. It is almost a documentary about Koyaanisqatsi. Noam voices mankinds relationship with the earth, technology, and himself. PS, this is not a paid advert, just a message from a media studies major who is worried about society and the role media plays in it.
