To: P.J. O'Connell and others interested in discussing objectivity

It is my opinion that objectivity along with subjectivity has outlived
their usefulness. The concepts were derived from a discredited notion of
science called positivism. It has been replaced with the notion that
human beings represent the world according to their identities - cultural,
class, gender, etc. These representations are neither subjective or
objective but rather a reflection of our ideologies. Objectivity according to
marxists, feminists, and other critics, a tool of the establishment in that
if you can get the public to believe that news is objective you can
control what people know. From my perspective the last place where people
actually discuss objectivity is among journalist and documentary filmmakers
the rest of the intellectual community no longer considers it an
interesting or worh
worthy concept.
