As one who only lately caught up with the whole films-about-film discussion, I wanted to contribute to its last gasp. I noticed that Henry's list apparently includes HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD (Paramount, 1936), but fails to mention the film it s director was remaking, his own 1927 avant-garde short THE LIFE AND DEATH OF 9413--A HOLLYWOOD EXTRA. Also of interest is the film whose success inspired Paramount to ask for a "movies" story, THE PREVIEW MURDER MYSTERY (Paramount, 1935), which takes place entirely on the Paramount lot. -- Brian Taves tavesmail.loc.gov Disclaimer--Promoting the films of Robert Florey does not represent official Library of Congress policy, only a personal obsession.
