I've taught a course several years running on medievalism on film. Unfortunately, if (as I assume) Ireland uses the European video format, the availability of the following is not guaranteed, but here are films that I have found in the U.S. on VHS format video: Monty Python and the Holy Grail The Passion of Beatrice Stealing Heaven (about Heloise and Abelard) Sorceress (a well-researched historical film) Excalibur (Hollywood meets Wagner) Robin Hood (1939 Errol Flynn version) Robin Hood (1991 Fox version) The Navigator (from Australia, but worth tracking down) The Name of the Rose (w. Sean Connery) The Canterbury Tales (X-rated version dir. Pasolini) These others I have found in 16mm prints, and are worth the trouble (may be out on video in Europe for all I know) The Passion of Joan of Arc (1929 silent version) Le Proces de Jeanne d'Arc (Bresson's masterpiece) Hope this may be of use/interest Russell A.
