Kristine, Henry Breitrose is right: you should be able to
order those films in Germany. They were just shown on one
of the commercial channels here in Germany - usually we
have them for Christmas or some other special occasion.
Perhaps you have a VCR that can "read" PAL on your campus.
One more thing: it is actually three films, the first is
"Sissi, Maedchenjahre ..." , den second "Sissi, die junge
Kaiserin" and the third "Sissi, Schicksalsjahre einer
Kaiserin". Highly interesting if one is interested in
Germany in the 50ies and what happened in popular culture.
They have been immensely popular ever since the fifties
and established a particular image of Romy Schneider in
Germany. Highly interesting also in terms of what those
films do with the personal/public dichotomy and how
femininity is evaluated within the framework of the
(fictional) good old days of the K. and K. Austrian
monarchy.
