In an age of otherwise bountiful library resources, I've found that one of the hardest things to come by is a videotape of a specific episode of a current or recent prime-time television show. In particular, I've spent a month trying to locate a copy of the "Pregnant Men" episode of Cosby, or of the episode of Roseanne where Roseanne gets fired from the burger joint. For those of us far distant from the Museum of Broadcasting, some kind of system is needed. Maybe we could establish a mailing-list pool of videotaped episodes (how about my _Twin Peaks_ 3/11 for your L.A. Law 9/21?) that could be loaned out or circulated for classroom or research use. Each subscriber would, by making a list of her/his tapes available, have a chance to exchange tapes to get what they needed, and could make their tapes available. Or is there already some clearinghouse for these kinds of tapes? Can you get them directly from the networks, or from the syndication-rights holders? Enquiring minds want to know. (and p.s. if anyone _does_ have those episodes, I'd be glad to reimburse them for postage if they could send them to me [Russell Potter, English Dept., Colby College, Waterville ME 04901]).
