One of the things that made Blakes 7 different from Star Trek, was that
it was anti-establishment.
Blake was a freedom-fighter (or terrorist depending on your viewpoint),
who went around the galaxy in a destroying military targets.
The spaceship was stolen, and his crew were all self-confessed criminals.

It also featured a couple of neat computers:
Zen - who spoke like a BBC newsreader, and tended to only tell
the crew what they _needed_ to know.
Orac - who was a sort of cross between a virus and a hacker.
His inventor designed a standard component used in all computers, Orac
exploited a weakness in this componant and was thus able to access any
computer anywhere.

If I recall most of the first series was written by Terry Nation, the
inventor of the Daleks, which may account for the character of the series.
