Our interpretation of the current copyright laws concerning off-air taping is this: almost anything is OK as long as it is for your own home use. If you intend to lend your tapes to friends or to use the tapes in the classroom, that's another matter. You're not really permitted to lend your recorded-off-air tapes to other people. And there are quite definite regulations about how long you can keep such tapes and use them in the classroom. If anyone is interested in the classroom use rules, I can list them here.
