Canada does have Kinko's outlets, we've got a large one about 50 metres off campus. The US ruling has no legal effect in Canada. Our copyright laws are quite different in a number of ways from the US. We do not have ANY educational exemptions and Kinko's has had to pay royalties for all the stuff they sell. Also, unlike in the US, a videotape rented from a local store does not have Public Performance Rights and therefore cannot be shown in a classroom. It even is technically illegal to invite a friend over to your house to see it. To make life even more interesting for librarians, Canada has no concept of reasonable effort in law. So even if you made a library patron sign an oath in blood that they would not copy a something they borrow, if they do make a copy the library staff is quilty as a party to the violation. Copyright is a neverending source of fun and games.
