No, Tony wasn't hacking up a furball. He was trying to get SCREEN-L to
ACKnowledge his messages. Since this was brought up, inadvertently,
lemme explain how it works:

When you post a message to SCREEN-L you do not get that message sent to
you BY SCREEN-L's listserver (the software that runs the list). If
you're concerned about whether or not your messages are successfully
received and distributed by the listserver you can get it to ACKnowledge
their receipt/distribution.

To turn on the ACKnowledgement function, sent e-mail to LISTSERV@UA1VM
(or [log in to unmask] for Internet). Please note that you send the
e-mail to LISTSERV, not SCREEN-L. In the e-mail, put this command
in the first line:

ACK

The listserver figures out who you are and sets your ACKnowledgement
function on. When you send a message from then on you'll be sent e-mail
bythe listserver telling you what happened to your messages. If you get
sick of that, send another piece of e-mail with the following command:

NOACK

That's about it...
